Has anybody tried fitting a 4th leg to a 3-leg Flatlift - is it any good?

jjbros, we have had several customers fit a fourth leg to a 3-leg machine, most of them have done it on light land where they dont want to go to deep but still require maximum shatter across the working width. Its quite a straightforward job, the front leg is moved from the middle to one side of the headstock and the new leg and swivel assembly fitted to the other.

I bought a new 3 leg flatlift with 4 legs fitted this summer and used it to plant rape. Four legs fit fine at 600mm spacings, an we dropped rape seed down the back of each leg giving 2 foot rows. Looks awful at the moment, but then so does most rape. I wouldn't have planted any rape conventionally. We pulled to 12-14 inch deep with a 125hp tractor, which was fine this year, being rather wet. We'll have to see how we get on next year.

Hi Christopher – thanks for your input on our forum – we would be really interested to hear how you get on this year – it would be great if you could keep us updated?
